Jumping Out of My Skin
Buddy got so excited when we saw AK while running errands yesterday that he decided to give her a kiss. While he was chilling in the backseat of the Barbie Dream Car. I have a pulled shoulder, so wrestling him back in was quite a spectacle.
So I'm trying to get ready for our family's chili party this Saturday. Luckily Mama is lifting a heavy load and doing the majority of the work, but I'm handling appetizers.
Our meal is chili with Frito's, tomatoes, sour cream, cheese, and all the other fixins, with lemon cookies for dessert. Mama is making a cheese dip which is similar to pimento cheese.
So suggestions for the rest? I'm thinking spinach artichoke dip, crudite with a curry dip, and maybe mini quesadillas?
We normally expect 60-70 people, so shoot me suggestions for a casual party!
This is chili party a few years ago- we wear antlers every year, so you can always find a hostess.

It's listed as a main course, but I had this at a party last week as an app with pita chips (would also be good with french bread as mentioned though) and it was FABULOUS!!! Everyone loved it, guys and girls! In December's Southern Living:

I shall email you my recipe for phyllo cup yummies... they are SO easy, a huge crowd-pleaser, and make a ton!
ReplyDeleteI saw a great recipe for hot spiced olives as a nosh. Get an assortment of mixed olives at the grocery...not canned. Add the peel of an orange and a few red pepper flakes. Drizzle a little olive oil and put everything in a tin foil pouch in a 350 oven for 20 mins. Delish and hot!
ReplyDeleteAntlers! SO clever! Here are some of the apps/mini bites we love that went over well at a couple of parties!!

Easy App that is so good and easy.. 1 can black beans (drained and rinsed), 1 can white corn (drained), 1 package feta cheese, a bunch of green onion chopped then pour dressing over it and mix. Dressing: 1/2 cup extra light olive oil, 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar, 1/4 cup sugar and a dash of garlic powder. Serve with pita chips. (Can double recipe and it keeps in fridge so can make ahead!)
ReplyDeleteI love parties! We actually have my husband's work party tomorrow night! Have fun at yours!
