Five on Friday

 1.  So there's this. . .

As I hinted at last Friday, I'm pregnant!  I'm sure some of y'all had a suspicion due to my lackadaisical blogging habits over the summer.  When one is alternating between sleeping like the dead and puking, something has to give.  Luckily, I chose blogging over toddler care or my actual job (although, Sesame Street did a lot of parenting for me, and I am still playing catch-up with work).

So, I'm 21 weeks today- due the first week of February.  About a week after Miss Priss turns two.  This should be interesting.  Once again, we're not finding out the sex of the baby.  I don't have a strong feeling like I did last time, so it is anyone's guess.

2.  This weather!

I know it's completely trite, but it is amazing when the humidity vanishes, yet the days are warm.  My toddler wants to be "oww-siii" all the time.  I love when I actually enjoy it as much as she does.  My weeding is done, and I am thrilled to plant my containers soon. Pansies! Marigolds! Front porch pumpkins!

3.  Our new bathroom.

Another thing I have slacked on, besides the blog?  Putting the last touches on our renovation, and showing y'all pictures.  For example, I still don't have a mirror in my bathroom, dresser in my bedroom, or pictures on the walls.  I have been far too busy soaking in my glorious toy-free tub to fiddle with such nonsense. Hanging up clothes?  Hmmm, maybe after I take my bath. . . .

4.  These mushrooms.

I did not even tweak the recipe (linked above).  I invited my parents over for pork tenderloin, garlic cheese grits, roasted okra and these the other night because I needed a break from Miss Priss because I am an excellent daughter. We devoured these!  Unlike some similar recipes, these need to cook for 3 hours, versus 8-10 hours, so one can make them on a whim (a three hour in advance whim, at least).  Also, they have a slightly better butter to mushroom ratio than say, the Pioneer Woman's version.  Don't mistake my intent- I love butter, but no need to drown the mushroomy flavor.  Miss Priss devoured these and okra, yet ignored her cheese grits.  She is odd.

5.  Fall Fashion.

I feel like all the new clothes coming out right now are just darling, simply because I can't wear them.  However, I did splurge and take advantage of the J. Crew sale to buy some maternity Pixie pants.

I'm very intrigued to see how they work.  Have any of you fellow preggos tried J. Crew's new maternity line?

So that's it for me!  We have a quiet weekend of the fall norm- kid's birthday parties and football.  Have a lovely weekend!

Oh, and I'm linking up with these lovely ladies!

  2. HI, I found you through the 5 on Friday party! The mushrooms look delicious and I stole your recipe for cheese grits! I wouldn't think to pair that with pork tenderloin but I'm totally making that for dinner. Thanks for the menu!

  12. Um, you're 21 weeks while I am 16 weeks -- and I'm already competing with my local zoo elephants for who's bigger. My only defense/excuse is that this is my third and you just pop out so much faster. At least that's what I tell myself.
    Congrats on the baby!
