Back up Lennon/McCartney. Your songwriting skills ain't got nothing on Buddy/Samma!
*Based on a survey of Virge, Anner and myself last weekend. Virge does not sing to her pets. Anner songs include such tunes as White Patch Lady, which we were all picturing in the "Lady In Red" vein. It's a little peppier, but I think she needs to do a remix ballad version. R. Kelly style.
My family's old golden retriever, Marley- the biggest golden retriever in the world, had quite the musical career. His favorite was "I'm big, I'm bad, I bite you, I don't care". When he got a little soulful, he liked to sing "Hey Food" to the tune of Hey Jude. Obviously, he was incredibly talented.
So are y'all like Virge, and
My husband and I sing songs about our two doxies all the time. Pretty much anytime we're not with them, we're talking about them or singing about them. Both pups have two syllable names which insert themselves into just about any song wonderfully.
ReplyDeleteSometimes they will just kiss each other and I have to break out into Wilbur and Sidney sitting in a tree...
Of course I sing to Maggie! Her favorite song is of course, Maggie Mae, but I also like to sing "You are my sunshine" to her. Cheesy and pathetic, I know.
ReplyDeletelucy has a whooooole repetoire of musical odes, depending on the situation at hand
ReplyDeleteI sing to my dogs all the time. They each have their own song which proclaims her the "prettiest little girl in the whole wide world," which, admittedly, is a little embarrassing. The older one merely tolerates me, though she loves it when her daddy sings to her. The younger eats up every bit of attention, so she gets more songs. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I sing to my dogs--it's rather embarrassing, but, I figure I'll do this when I have kids, so, I might as well practice now. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI prefer to stick with Top 40 Dance Hits such as "Missus Boombastic {Clearly Fantastic}" and "I like that Boom, Boom, Boom."
ReplyDeleteEvs usually goes with the sing-song voice "Who is the prettiest? And the shittiest?" Although sometimes he bursts forth with melody proclaims "I'm gonna get that ear! Oh I'm gonna get that ear! I'll bite-n-scratch-n-poop-n-pee, Oh I'm gonna get that ear!"
Sweet Jesus we are lamesauce.
I love this post to pieces! My husband and I sing to our dog all the time. We change the words to songs and sometimes we just make up our own songs. Our dog likes the songs where we also clap along the best, she jumps around and dances! Our cat, on the other hand, HATES our singing with a passion and will bolt from the room at the first note. She's obviously horrified and embarassed of us, which means we're probably doing something right as parents. :)
ReplyDeleteim so glad to know that im not the only one who sings to pups ...
ReplyDeleteI used to sing to Halle and Miller, but now my singing is reserved for my two legged children! When you have your own little bundles you will find very creative ways to insert "poopy" and "pee pee" into any genre! And I will say, Buddy is quite the handsome pup!:)
ReplyDeleteI love it! We have a new pup, Prairie and I sing to her all the time. We have a song all about her to the tune of the Davy Crockett song...
ReplyDeleteNacho gets "Nacho, nacho man" to the tune of "Macho macho man".
