I Can't Take It Anymore!

Y'all, I want a dog so badly.  My pupological clock is out of control.  If I could give birth to a puppy instead of a baby, I'd probably be knocked up right now.  Whoops honey!  (Just kidding. . .sort of).

Hubs says we have to wait until we are out of the condo an into a house.  Instead of making me patient and adult, this has instead brought my house fever  to a raging boil.  Look at all these rescue pups I found this morning.  I know they are super excited to run and cuddle and play.

I grew up goldens so I am partial, but now that my family has Dixie the mini-lab mutt, whom I adore, (as well as Henry the model rescue golden), I have been perusing any sort of spunky mix.

I now understand why women cry at diaper commercials.  I have to leave the room every time that Sarah MacLaughlin commercial showing pups in cages comes in (which is reasonable I believe).  Now I'm getting pangs watching Bounty commercials, and have to throw away L.L. Bean catalogs.

I hoped for a dog for Christmas, but sadly my dreams were dashed.  I did receive something cuddly and infinitely more creepy from Hubs though. . .I'll have to save that for tomorrow.

  1. I LOVE puppies! I'm toying with the idea of telling Evs that my being unemployed offers the perfect opportunity to get another one! I want a rescue dog SO BADLY - pound puppies are the best and that's what I had growing up. The Boom was "Evs' dog" (um, yeah right) so he picked a purebred... now I want a little mutt to round out the fam!

  2. Aww, I know how you feel about wanting a dog. Although, I now have 2. When my husband and were first married and living in an apartment it was the first time either one of us had lived without a dog. I wanted one soooooooo bad. He wanted a dog too, but, not a little-ish dog, since our apt. had a size limit. He surprised me and got me a sheltie for my birthday that year. Best.Gift.Ever!

Hopefully you'll get a pup soon!

  3. omgosh, i just love how you refer to it as your puppological clock. that kills me!! i went puppyless for five very long years when Hubs and I first got together.. It literally took me that long to wear him down. i finally convinced him to get an "apartment" friendly dog because we had been in an apartment for three years and i was deperate! well, turned out we bought Sheepie and we've had him a year and it's been bliss.. so just keep wearing him down, honey! eventually he has to give in!! oh, and that ASPCA commercial? tears. every. time. haha!

  4. Oh gosh it is so hard for me to look at those rescue pups and not want them all! I have the biggest spot in my heart for animals. As long as you can be active and take your dog out for a walk or two a day I don't see anything wrong with a dog in a condo, but shhh don't tell your husband I said that!

  5. Oh I hope you get one soon! Rescued dogs are the best and I'm so happy that's what you're looking at. I adopted Oscar from the animal shelter and I'm so glad I did. I always want to adopt another when I see the rescue groups at PetSmart, though. Maybe he needs a brother!

  8. Yes! Do it! Do it! Do it! Pound puppies don't care if you live in a condo or a house, they just want someone to take them home and love them and squeeze them and take care of them already. Given that I was exactly where you were just a few short weeks ago, I can completely feel your pain. But honestly, just tell hubs that D. had many reservations as well, and he is now 100% wrapped around Henry's little paw ;-)

  9. OMG they are SO FREAKING CUTE!

P.S. Austin said we needed to wait until we were out of the loft and in a house... Austin asked me to wait until we were married and things "calmed down." I told him things would never calm down and that I'd rather potty train a pupper on someone else's hardwoods. He caved. hehe

  10. I have the same puppy issue you do. My husband says not until we are in a house....I say bring on the cute and cuddly puppy.

I cry every time at that commercial.

  11. Hey... If you or anyone you know adopts a shelter dog, Pedigree will provide one month of FREE dog food! Yet another good reason to get a dog. :)

  12. I don't know how people who love dogs live without them. I mean, it may sound morbid, but we're been talking about what puppies we would want next since our dogs are getting much older. Is that awful? We'll always have dogs.
