I think I mentioned to y'all that we are looking at adding on a master bathroom/closet area to our house. It's a bit more of an undertaking than I anticipated, so I am having to keep the budget low, low, low in order to do it. I'm okay with this. It makes it more of a creative undertaking, and I love to hunt out a bargain. I am thinking everything needs to be simple and classic, since I do not have room in the budget for the finishes I could really go crazy with.
I like this hexagon tile from Home Depot, and the price is right. If I am going to use porcelain tile, I want tile that looks like tile, not stone. Be yourself, tile! My same beef with laminate countertops that look like granite.
Paired with simple white subway tile, I think it will be classic and budget friendly. Although, I could also use bead board for the wainscoting, similar to our powder room.
Excuse the poor picture quality.
I love this-
How can I convince Morgan that pink walls will be the best thing ever?
Imagine the black and white floor, white wainscoting- either subway tile or beadboard, a white subway tiled shower, a marble topped gray painted double vanity, and pale pink walls!
Like that above
Mixed with this. My complexion would look so divine I wouldn't even need to put on makeup in the morning!
Now off to find the perfect marble at a price I can afford. Hmmm, this should be interesting!
Do y'all prefer the beadboard or the subway tile?
Just tell him it is a shade of off white. I swear he won't even question it until it is on the walls. Love your ideas. The hexagon tiles are great and I am a total sucker for subway tiles.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with Katie about "off white". Say it's "rosy cream" :)
ReplyDeleteAfter living in NYC for almost 5 years and ONLY having subway tiled showers and walls and black & white tile floors, ALL I WANT is ANYTHING but those! For me - for those "inspiration" rooms above, it looks marvelous. I love the idea of the dove grey wood too.
I like the bead board. The subway tile seems so cold to me and the bead board might give you more versatility in the future as far as using different textures elsewhere in the room.
ReplyDeleteWe're hoping to use that hexagon tile in our half bath - love! We also have bead board, and I really like it. But you can't go wrong either way, truly. Your taste is fab!
ReplyDeleteIn our last house, we gutted one of the guest baths and did white beadboard and the black/white hatch tile with a pale shade of pink. I told the Mr. that it was a creamy tan (b/c it looked that way in the paint can) so when it dried pink, I just shrugged. :) We also just renovated our master bath and I used pennyround tile on the floors and small subway on the walls. It turned out fantastic! Great for a small space.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't need a big piece of marble, a remnant piece is not that expensive. You can look at stone yards, they usually have great stuff left over that might usually be over your price range. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteEvery-time I start to feel like my personal "home-look" is not good enough you have a great home post. I love how your home is so colorful yet colorful. The hexagon tile is wonderful! And both breadboard and subway tile are classic!!!
