That's what Morgan announced to me as the doctor held up my son (!). I became so excited that the anesthesiologist leaned over and explained he was giving me something to slow me down a bit, as my heart rate was a little too fast for his liking. Ha! He was 7 lbs, 8 oz, and has already regained his birth weight, hurrah! This explains why I am starving all of the time- love the all you can eat aspect of nursing.
Much everything else with this pregnancy, things are much easier the second time around. Like all my friends told me, the toddler is the tough part and the newborn is a breeze. An exhausting breeze, but a blessedly quiet one. Miss Priss is very intrigued with "Baby Deeds", when she stops playing long enough to remember his existence. She did want to go see him and have him play with her first thing this morning (at 6:15, grrr). I can tell she is still a little stressed from snow week cabin fever, followed by four nights at her grandparents, lack of mama time, and a new baby. I'm praying for God to give me patience, kindness and grace for my barely two year old darling girl around the clock. Once my c-section has healed more, and I can do my normal daily activities, I think her stress will recede.
So, I will be back with more pictures of my little guy soon- I am just over the moon! Time to do a little napping and cuddling while big sister is in school.
Oh, and any toddler tips (especially those relating to the toddler wanting to be carried) after c-section are greatly appreciated!
(Excuse any egregious errors and/or typos, I am still on pain relievers and about 3 hours sleep)
My comment from earlier wouldn't post. I love it! Congratulations. Baby fever.
ReplyDeleteHow do you look so glam after having a baby? Share o' wise one.
Congratulations!!! I love his little nose peeking outta that blanket :)
ReplyDeleteThe hugest of congratulations to you and your little family!! My friend who had her 2nd last year -- her son was 20 months when her daughter was born -- said the best thing she did in the beginning was to make mommy and me time for her older child. She said it was harder on him if she focused on the baby when he really needed her i.e. the baby doesn't know if you're catering to the toddler as long as they're getting their needs met. Hope this make sense!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you Samma and family! It feels like your pregnancy was over in a blink of an eye. I'm sure it didn't feel that way. But yeah! Will say some prayers for you as well. Go to Marshall's or TJMaxx for little kids snow pants. Not sure if they will have them in your stores but we always have a ton. Blessings to your sweet DH on her birthday too. Love that I've been reading for more than 2 years. xoxo
ReplyDeleteCongratulations pretty mama! You look too damn fabulous to have just had a baby! So glad your sweet boy is here. Lots of well wishes for an easy adjustment period as a family of four!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Samma!! You look great and I'm sure you're handling it all with way more grace, patience and humor than you give yourself credit for! I am 6mos down with 3 more to go for baby #2 (it will also be a birthday surprise as to what it is, I. Can't. Wait.). When you have time please blog or email me your tips on managing your toddler and newborn, little C will be 19mos old when #2 arrives and I'm already nervous about the balancing act. Sending love!
ReplyDeleteMazel tov! Here's a tip when you have visitors over. Put a note on the door asking your visitor to ask Dell Harper to show them her little brother. Gives her a job and is very important.
ReplyDeleteStill so excited about your latest addition and also so excited to see three new posts from you upon my return! Deeds is the cutest! And it sounds like you are rocking the Mama of Two gig! I can only hope for so much grace under fire!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! Love his name!! What a handsome baby boy!!
