TV Time-Couple Time

For someone who claims that she doesn't watch much television, and prefers to read, I watch a helluva a lot of television. In addition to mainstream stalwarts such as Gossip Girl, I have become addicted to several other guilty pleasures which are Hubs friendly, unlike the previously mentioned delights.

Pawn Stars:  It's on the History Channel so educational right?

So Rick is the Old Man's son, and Corey is Rick's son.  I actually learn history because people bring in weird old stuff, and Rick invariably calls a buddy who is an expert in this stuff, who explains the provenance (learning history), then there's negotiation (business), and the family dynamic is always entertaining.  Seriously- Hubs made me watch it and now I love it.

The Closer:

Okay, Kyra's accent is not the best, but just roll with it, and you will stop noticing. She is originally from Atlanta, and now a police chief.  Her squad now says ma'am and y'all.  She brings the heat, is tough is nails, and addicted to sweets.  Oh yeah, and she has FANTASTIC hair.

And can't wait until this one comes back- Damages:

It's rumored to be back this February, and I am dying for its twisty, slightly creepy return.  Of course, I love a show about a young overwhelmed lawyer battling her psycho murderous boss played by a terrifying Glenn Close.  My parents have become addicted to both The Closer and Damages, so it's great for them to have a couple shows they can watch together, as well.

Any suggestions on shows which are palatable to you and your significant other?

  3. Do you watch Dirty Jobs on the Discovery Channel?? I bet Hubs would like it and it's totally fascinating. It almost (not quite) makes me appreciate my job...

  4. haha that looks like "intelligent" tv compared to what I watch :) The good= Food Network, HGTV, Lost, the silly= the office, parks and rec, the bad/dumb= real housewives, million dollar listing, The Hills

  6. Ok, I am cracking up that I just stumbled on your blog and you posted about Pawn Stars! It doesn't make me feel so alone in this world! ha! My husband loves this show and we have recently spent quite a bit of time watching it. It amazes me what people bring in there! And we always go back and forth of whether or not we would actually sell some of those items for the measly money they offer them. So glad we're not alone!!

  7. I keep meaning to try Damages. Thanks for the recommendation / reminder! We watch 24, Entourage, and Mad Men, but that's about it and none of those are new right now. The Good Wife is pretty good too. Oh, and Bang for Your Buck on HGTV. :)

  8. Love The Closer--yes, she has killer hair. I missed it last night because I was in class--the husband said it wasn't very good... Sad.

  10. The Evs and I are also Pawn Star fans... and I am OBSESSED with Damages... is it wrong to think that Ellen's job is kinda fun (or more fun than my last one)? Even when someone is trying to kill her? Her killer professional wardrobe helps too!

  11. The Closer wasn't very good this week- so sad! But anyway, together we watch a wide range of tv: Sons of Anarchy (so violent but so addictive), 30 Rock and The Office, and Glee!
