Muffy the Mouse

So I have had a not so good morning.

A horrible morning in fact.

Dragging myself out of bed, I slip on my robe laying on the chair on in our bedroom.  Something flies out and lands on the floor.  What in the hell is that?  I squint on the brown blob, sans contacts or glasses, until I discern a tail and movement.

holy shit.

A mouse just jumped out of my robe.  Which was on my body.  A mouse just crawled on me.

I fling off the offending garment and jump on my bed, staring at the terrified vermin. Tiny, it does not move for a while, so I think it could be dead.  As I debate whether this would be preferable, it starts to move.  I holler at it, and take some pictures with my cell phone, until it scurries under my dresser.

Sorry for the poor quality. Blackberry, shaking hand, and moving rodent do not equal clarity in photography obviously.  So now I have a mouse in my house.  I'm thinking it probably came from the brush pile in the jungle that is my front yard.  Remember this?

Looks like a perfect spot for a mouse for me.  Not near as perfect as the Muffy the Mouse house from Jeff and Jody's Today's Special though.  If Muffy and her adorable mouse house moved into my robe, I could definitely handle that.  I yearned as a child (who was obsessed with dollhouses) to have her and her mansion to play with.  Were y'all a fan?

Note- Hubs randomly perused the blog the other night, and saw the pictures of the outside of the condo.  Shocked, he said "It looks awful!  It looks like we live in the projects!"

He wanted to clarify to y'all that our condo is nice, it was just built in the sixties so it's not the most architectural pleasing, but they are very nice.

Not as nice as Muffy the Mouse's house though . . .

  1. My sister and I were obsessed with Today's Special! It was our favorite! Everytime we mention it people look at us like we're crazy and have no idea what we're talking about. So glad someone else remembers this!!!

And I am beyond sorry that you have a mouse in your house. (hehe) I can't imagine. Hope you can rid yourself of the rodent quickly!

  2. I never thought twice about mice until my freshman year of college, living in a dorm that was absolutely infested with them. Now just the sight turns me into a silly, squealing girl... and damn if I used to be so cool about it, too. DOWN WITH THE RODENTS!

  5. Holy mouse house, batman! Oh no! I would have had a heart attack. Are you okay? Is it still there? Did you smoke it out? :)

And I loved Muffy! I just saw the picture of her and died a little. Memories.

  6. Faye, a mouse in the house is not new to you (even though I don't think anyone could get used to one). Remember Hall Street?? Luckily, we had our roommate's BF or ex-BF "get rid" of it. I think a glue trap was used - ew. Oh, and didn't we have a mouse that had superman strength and could throw a loaf of bread off the counter? That was Church Street. Ok, I need to stop now - your readers are going to think you and your friends have lived in squalor.

  11. OMG! I am laughing myself silly over here. We had mice issues this winter, not fun at all. But we all did the same thing, jumped up on the furniture while the mouse had nearly a heart attack. Oh, my younger sister was nuts for that show, I can hear the theme song in my head now!

  13. EEEEEEK! Well it could be worse... my expectant sister-in-law found a rat in the nursery just a week before her baby was due! It was sitting on the baby towels in a drawer!
