Love it and Leave it- Book Review Edition

My reading material of late?  In a word- light.

This also described my attention span.  Blame it on the baby.  I could be perusing Chekhov, but instead I am reading chick lit and blogger essays.*

LOVE IT:  The Antelope in the Living Room
I loved this book- much like "Big Mama"'s first endeavor- Sparkly Green Earrings, it's a charming light read.  Funny, with a little bit of sweet and a little bit of God,  this collection of essays is a perfect light read.

LEAVE IT: Twisted Sisters

I was so excited about Jen Lancaster's latest book to come out.  I downloaded it the day it came out, and was actually excited to nurse in the middle of the night and read this on my Kindle.

My enthusiasm was decidedly unwarranted.  I'm going to abide by the dictum of if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all, and direct y'all to the reviews here.  They do an excellent job of summing up my extreme disappointment.    In a nutshell, please do not bother trying to read this nonsense.

*I used to actually read books that wouldn't be classified as light reads.  Then I went to law school, and read really really boring stuff all the time, so I satisfied my book sweet tooth with trash.  Then I had children and stopped sleeping.  I will read real books again while lounging on my white couches when I am an empty nester.  Possibly while drinking copious amounts of wine and chain smoking.  You never know.

  2. I miss Jen Lancaster's snarky non-fiction. I gave up on her as a fiction writer after her first attempt but was almost tempted when Twisted Sisters went on sale for $2.99. Thanks for saving me the time.
