I'm such a Grown-up Now

I think this last year of my twenties is really maturing me.  After all, I have been acting like an octogenarian- bed at eight, watching Matlock re-runs on the Hallmark channel, and drinking decaf coffee.

I felt very grownup last night, as I invited my parents to join Hubs and I for dinner last minute, as I finished up a meeting after six, and headed home to put on my sweats.  However, I was ready.

Stuffed shells from freezer (leftover from those made Sunday night for a friend)- check

Mache, olive oil and balsamic- check

French bread (purchased for said friend but forgotten) Transformed into the Pioneer Woman's olive, cheese bread, modified to what i had on hand.

olives, goat cheese, and cracker (my favorite foods, so totally in my erstwhile empty fridge)

Just call me Ina, because my dinner party was ready to roll!
Then Mama stayed and help me hang pictures.  By this I mean that I lolled on the couch, and gave directions and mental support, while she bustled about measuring things.  I did aid with mental math. . .

Here's a preview. . .

Obviously still half dressed, but getting closer. . .
Let me know if y'all want the Turkey and Artichoke Stuffed Shells recipe- it's relatively healthy and always a hit!

  5. Dang, you guys are getting there! I *so* wish I could invite my parents over for an impromptu meal, sniff sniff. But on the bright side, I'm closer to them than ever (even if it's still a 5-hour drive), so I won't mope!

And isn't it funny how parents are better at hanging things on the walls than we are...;-)I still get my daddy to hang things for me, he does it just right!
