This is what my closet currently looks like- including Hubs struggling to find his shoes and get out alive. I want to streamline, and condense to a basic uniform. I love clothes (and unfortunately for the bank account, my closet, and Hubs, having lots of them), but I also love the idea of a uniform.
Summertime it's easy, and I have perfected my uniform- dress, classic jean jacket for overly air-conditioned areas, Jack Rodgers or wedge espadrilles. Done and done. (Will it ever be summer? I'm dying over here).
Carolina Herrera is the queen of the uniform- crisp white button up, and a full skirt.
Classic, stylish, and beautiful.
I read in Vogue once that Lee Radziwill, sister of Jackie O., limited her wardrobe to black and white with occasional splashes of red. I love color, so I could never do this, but I love the idea of such classic simplicity.
Do you have a uniform? Go to look?
Currently my uniform is jeans, a sorority tee shirt, flip flops/boating shoes/uggs. I am rather boring!
ReplyDeleteI think my friends would say that I do. I generally always wear black pants and a solid top, usually a button up. Boring, I know, but it works for me.
ReplyDeleteNo, I have multiple personalities when it comes to clothing. I fluctuate between business professional and hippie chick. I can't make up my mind. Although, my favorite look is a pencil skirt with a crisp button down and nice heels, or good fitting pants, a crisp button down or a nice cardigan. Or jeans and a cute tee. I used to be a gymnastics coach and that was the best thing ever: yoga pants and a tee shirt. Every. Single. Day.... sigh.... (I also gained like 20 pounds because I never wore anything without an elastic wasit!)

ReplyDeleteDuring the summer, I'd say my uniform is j.crew shorts and a fitted tee with flip flops or sperry's or a cotton-y dress with my denim jacket and sandals or wedges. Easy enough!
ReplyDeleteOh Carolina just makes me swoon. My uniform is actually fairly similar... love a swingy skirt with pockets and crisp white top - be it a button down, tee or other.
ReplyDeleteI think because I wore a school uniform for 12 years of my life, it became ingrained in everything I do and wear now. I always strive for simple, clean lines; classic clothes that will never go out of style. Khakis, crisp white shirts, ballet flats/loafers/sandals, a good pair of black boots, tweed, black turtlenecks.
ReplyDeleteMine is similar to JMW. Chinos and sweaters in neutral colors (black white navy), ballet flats, a good pair of boots.
ReplyDeleteOh, how I love Carolina!! When I had a real reason to get dressed every day, I went to the big circle skirts and crisp button ups. I always buy classic stuff and then may throw in a bold print for extra special occasions!
ReplyDeleteLove this post - so fun to see the pics you pulled. I heart style! My winter uniform has been in blacks/grays/purples - dress, leggings, boots, scarf and coat (some patterned/some solid). My summer is much like yours!! Summer dress + jean jacket + wedges or gladiators!
