So Friday evening I started out on a little run (part of football season preparation rest and rejuvenation weekend). However, I immediately turned around and strolled (hobbled) home. Thanks for never going away shin splints! You're awesome!
However, I was antsy and needed to move, so I brought my camera, and accomplished two of my favorite things- listening to a book on my ipod, and looking at houses. There is an especially cute section of my neighborhood consisting of cottages (most with rope swings hanging from a tree, naturally). Ahhh, Americana.
I really like whitewashed brick. You see this look all the time in Peachtree Hills, Garden Hills, and Buckhead in Atlanta, but it's not common in my hometown.
Love the rambling, added-on feel of this cottage, especially the side with the front porch. I can't live without a front and back porch.
Check out with arched wooden front door with the ivy- very English country village, no?
I heart these Adirondack chairs in red. Sigh.
Although I prefer a porch opposed to a stoop, this remodeled cottage looks light, bright and airy. I want those huge transom windows.

Hey Puppy! Woof!
This brick Federal is not my style, but I love the color they have painted the brick in combination with the black front door and grey shutters.
And finally my favorite- a true fairy tale cottage.

The Hansel and Gretel look is diametrically different from what I will build eventually, but I have always been drawn to them.
So cosy! I want to sit in a window nook and drink tea and read my book! Actually I want to do that everywhere, but this little house is especially conducive to such activity.

Those are all so pretty in their own ways! Great photos and I love that whitewashed brick, too!
ReplyDeleteI love that you gave the puppy a shout out.
ReplyDeleteWe have some neighborhoods like that in Houston. When we decide to buy, I want a house with charm!
ReplyDeleteThose cottages are sooo cute! I also love whitewashed brick.
